The home owners wanted a home suitable
for retirement reaching beyond into
the sunset years. The clients wanted a craftsman
style cottage with ample views of the lake,
but shielded from the neighbors on the sides.
Furthermore, this all had to be accomplished
on an exceptionally narrow lakeside lot.
The project began with owner-provided
rough sketches of what the general layout
needed to include. We looked at photos
of houses with a similar feel. We then
took the design to our excellent draftsman
who mocked up plans, elevations and 3-D
models. After many iterations and
meetings we arrived at the ideal design
and layout. As a bonus, the home is very
energy efficient, which will make it more
comfortable and less expensive to heat
and cool.
